SAMTA stands for the South African Motorbike Transport Association. It is an association established to support and empower Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in the delivery sector, particularly those utilizing scooters for last-mile transportation in South Africa

SAMTA aims to address challenges such as the prevalence of unregistered and unlicensed scooter owners and drivers, the lack of proper training and skills development, inadequate safety measures, and limited access to affordable insurance coverage for scooter owners and drivers.

SAMTA plans to enhance professionalism through initiatives such as comprehensive training and skills development programs, advocating for favorable working conditions, and promoting safety measures and awareness among scooter owners and drivers

SAMTA’s objectives include advocating for the registration and licensing of scooter owners and drivers, ensuring compliance with industry regulations to improve safety and professionalism in the motorbike transport sector.

SAMTA provides continuous support from onboarding to ongoing engagement. This includes access to an experienced training school, mentorship programs, and a resource hub, creating a community where members can share experiences and overcome challenges together.

SAMTA engages in advocacy and representation activities to promote favorable working conditions, protect the interests of scooter owners and drivers, and contribute to the overall growth and development of the motorbike transport industry in South Africa.

SAMTA works towards providing its members with access to affordable and appropriate insurance coverage, reducing financial exposure for scooter owners and drivers in case of accidents or theft.

SAMTA primarily focuses on supporting SMMEs operating in the delivery sector in South Africa. While its primary scope is within the country, collaborations and partnerships may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
